The purpose of The Forsyth Singers is to establish and maintain a tradition of choral excellence, bringing fine performances of secular and sacred music to our community and surrounding communities.

Founded in 2006 by Van McCollum, Forsyth Singers was originally called the Cumming Playhouse Singers. We are an auditioned group of singers, including people ages 16 to 80+. We are supported through membership dues, ticket sales, and donations from members and local businesses. We hope you will support us by singing with us or attending our performances.

Dr. John M. Broman received music degrees from the University of lowa (B.M. in voice,1974; M.A. in choral conducting, 1976; D.M.A. in choral conducting, 1986) where his primary instructors were Don V Moses (conducting), Richard Bloesch (choral literature), and Kathryn Harvey (voice). His collegiate teaching experience includes stints at Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, SD (1976-77), Loras College, Dubuque, IA (1977-92), and the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega, GA (1992-2024). During his
thirty-two years at the University of North Georgia, Dr. Broman received many awards for teaching, the most noteworthy being the 2019 Weston H. Noble Award "in recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of vocal music." The award was created to honor Professor Noble and his service to Luther College, (Decorah, Iowa) and the choral world. While at the University of North Georgia, Le Belle Voci was invited to perform for In Service Conferences of the GMEA in 2006 (Savannah) and in 2016
(Athens), and for the Fall Conference of the GA ACDA in 2021 (Rome). In
addition, Dr. Broman averaged 35-40 presentations per year, performing for
over 600,000 people in the process. He provided music for 130 commencements, organized and directed annual Church Choir Festivals and Choral Explosions, and took 15 tours (6 overseas) with his university choirs.

Susan Ray is an Atlanta native and a graduate of the Fulton County school system. She earned a bachelor's degree from Shorter University, majoring in Music Education and Piano. She earned her Masters and Educational Specialist degrees from Georgia State University. Susan's professional experience began as and elementary music specialist, then high school choral director. She is retired from Georgia Perimeter College. At GPC, Susan was Coordinator of the Music Program and taught academic music courses, directed all Choral groups, taught piano and organ, and directed many large scale choral/instrumental works and Music Theater productions.
